QOwnNotes Web Companion: A Useful Extension for Note Taking
QOwnNotes Web Companion is a companion extension for the QOwnNotes note-taking desktop application. Designed for GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows, QOwnNotes is an open-source plain-text file markdown note-taking app that can be used alongside the notes application of Nextcloud or ownCloud.
To utilize this extension, QOwnNotes must be running. QOwnNotes Web Companion offers several convenient features. Firstly, it allows for bookmark management from links in notes, providing easy access to saved webpages. Additionally, users can create new notes (text only) from the current selection by right-clicking on it. This functionality is scriptable in QOwnNotes, allowing for customization and automation. Moreover, users can create new notes from the content of the current webpage by right-clicking on the page. The extension converts the HTML to markdown and downloads any images on the page. This feature can also be scripted in QOwnNotes.
QOwnNotes Web Companion also offers the ability to create a new note with a screenshot of the visible part of the current webpage by right-clicking on the page. The extension provides the option to change the server socket port in the extension's Option page, allowing for further customization.
